Here's a few of them! There are more, they're going up a bit at a time, but now I'm waiting on camera batteries to charge! ARGH!

Sigh, well, got the vast majority of my bits n bobs out of the nice cushy luxury-but-temporary studio and back to my drippy-old-barn studio. Only things left, one set of shelves, a table, and a bunch of shipping boxes. whoo haa. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted! Still have to figure out how to shoe-horn most of this into the shop, but I think I've got most of it figured out! Today was all the heavy stuff, plaster forms, ware boards, boxes of finished products that I've been storing there, tools, and all the other stray assorted thingamabobs one needs for a pottery studio. Most of the clay and one set of shelves came back yesterday, the rest will come back tomorrow.
Kiln finished firing, so on a positive note I've got a BUNCH of stuff I'm excited about to finish for the next firing! The re-arranged barn-studio will be a lot easier to do photography in, and I've got a bunch to do with the stuff I've been meaning to get to but haven't had time, the stuff I need to reshoot, and the stuff up-n-coming! And later this week and next week I'll probably have a full load of painting/repair/whatever-is-needed so I STILL won't get to it! LOL figures, huh! Here are more new pics! Facebook link! I tend to keep that pretty up to date, so check it out if you want to see what is up and coming! There's a very mixed load of stuff, between this orchid pot, a big bonsai scoop, a couple little kusamonos, some tiles, some decorative wall plaques, and a st Nothing TERRIBLY excitingly new today, but I did get the first layer of finish on three new style starfish plaques! They're now ready for bisque firing. I'll have to sneak in tomorrow and get pictures. I've also got the big bonsai pot and three orchid trays (custom orders,) a couple orchid pots, a bunch of tiles, a big bonsai scoop and a simple plate almost ready to fire. Well, the orchid pots and custom orders are ready to go, the others are still a bit damp!
Between the local yearly Art Show, a house-guest (HI MOM!), trying to shift my base of operations again, and online sales (whoohoo!) its been a bit crazy around here! This is a pot that I built as a custom order, its just past leather hard in the photo, but now its dry and waiting for its first firing. I've added a bit of terra sig. to pop the detail some, and after the bisque I'll give it a bit of manganese dioxide to pop it more and age the pot. It should be VERY NICE when done! I'll post more pics as it progresses, and I think I ll have to put some more together for the shop. Anyway, clearing out the shop is progressing, I'm planning to be out in my garage with the pottery stuff by the 12th, it should be ok for a while. Depending on how things go, I might rent a small storage space to set up shop for the winter as my 'garage' is more of a leaky old barn than anything else! It gets pretty damp and cold in the winter. These two plaques were entries in the local art show, I really didn't have anything special to enter this year so I was happy to get an honorable mentions (for the big one with 3 starfish) and even MORE pleased because it SOLD! They convinced me to put the little one up in the library display for the month so it'll be a while before I put it into the Etsy store. I've got a few more built waiting on firing, I'm hoping to have a bunch ready for the "Festival of Art" the art center is putting on in August. It'll be a first year show, two days, so I'm figuring it'll be a pretty relaxed show, hopefully I'll be able to sell some tiles and small stuff, MAYBE a plaque or three! :) |

Clay has always fascinated me, its many colors and textures, the shapes you can create using it, even the feel of it squishing in my hand. Even after years of playing in the mud I find myself exploring new ideas and I hope my work shows this. Archives

Life as a potter
OK, so maybe its life as a part time potter! BUT someday that will change!
